We have developed tools for pollen allergy sufferers, from personalised tools to general allergy symptom forecasting. By bringing together scientific knowledge and building on the latest technology and modelling capabilities, we have created original products.
PASYFO is a personalised forecast of allergy symptoms caused by pollen. This information is available on the PASYFO mobile application (download for Android or iOS). People who want to receive a personalised forecast of their allergy symptoms should first register in the Pollen Diary and fill in information about their physical condition. Access to the Pollen Diary is via the mobile app, as the diary is integrated into PASYFO. Providing information is easy and takes just a few minutes. The personalised forecast will start to be generated when the data on the physical condition is complete for at least 5 days. All personal data is confidential and protected.
Allergy forecast - tool shows the prevalence of allergies and the forecast of the risk of pollen allergy in different parts of Europe. The Allergy Symptom Forecast model uses open CAMS and SILAM data, as well as personalised allergy symptom data recorded in the Pollen Diary. The information displayed on the map is of a general nature and does not necessarily reflect the symptoms experienced by a specific individual. To be provided with a personalised allergy risk forecast, users need to download the PASYFO mobile app and register their personal health data in the Pollen Diary.
While not as precise as the personalised forecast, this tool provides a broad overview of potential allergy risks across a region. This tool is ideal for those seeking general information on allergy trends in particular area.
Pollen forecast predicts the amount of pollen expected in the air over the coming days and is useful for those interested in specific pollen levels. By analysing meteorological data and plant flowering periods, this tool delivers reliable pollen load forecasts using the SILAM and CAMS models, a highly advanced atmospheric dispersion models. CAMS ensemble model and SILAM (System for Integrated modeLling of Atmospheric coMposition) provide detailed information by simulating the transport and dispersion of pollen in the atmosphere, incorporating factors like wind, humidity, and temperature. The models accurately forecast pollen concentrations up to several days in advance, making it a valuable tool for both individuals and health authorities in managing exposure to allergens.
Pollen Resilience Index Forecast is a groundbreaking tool that combines data on air pollution, extreme weather conditions and pollen concentration forecasts to provide a comprehensive view of airborne allergen risks. This unique index has been developed with the understanding that extreme weather events - such as heat waves, thunderstorms and rapid temperature changes - can worsen allergic symptoms. In addition, extreme meteorological conditions can have a significant impact on the amount and distribution of pollen.
To account for these factors, the Pollen Resilience Index incorporates data from the state-of-the-art Earth Observation Data Platform (EO4EU). This integration ensures that the index captures the full range of environmental variables that affect airborne allergens. The result is a model-based forecast that enables individuals, healthcare providers and urban planners to anticipate and mitigate the combined effects of pollen, pollution and weather on respiratory health, especially in extreme conditions.
