What is Pollen?

What is Pollen?

Pollen plays a vital role in plant reproduction, facilitating the spread and growth of plant species. As the male component of sexual reproduction in plants, pollen carries genetic material essential for species propagation. Historically, pollen is known as a health booster, with its extracts still used in human nutrition and medicine. For a long time, pollen has been associated only with health promotion. Still, alongside medical progress and deepening in the course of allergic diseases, it has become evident that pollen may also have a negative impact on human health. This relates to the structure of a protein in pollen: certain proteins can provoke adverse reactions in individuals, particularly those with sensitivities to its specific components. Some pollen is the cause of allergic rhinitis.

Pollen Diary

Pollen Diary

It is a free service developed by European scientists that can help users better understand the impact of airborne pollen on their health. By recording daily allergy symptoms on the platform, users contribute valuable data that is linked to the European pollen database. Users are registered anonymously, needing only a valid email address. Parents can manage separate diaries for their children, provided each account has a unique email address. The Pollen Diary is available in multiple languages across Europe. Users can use Pollen Diary via the website or just fill it in the PASYFO app.

  • Every registered user who fills in the data receives a unique personalized forecast of the manifestation of allergy symptoms.
  • Check whether specific health issues correlate with the variety and concentration of airborne pollen.
  • Receive visually detailed information on the relation between pollen diversity, airborne concentrations, and symptoms. This information can be useful when visiting doctors.
