Aeroallergens

Atmospheric bioaerosol are composed of variuos biological particles, including bacteria, viruses, pollen, fungal spores, hyphae etc. Not all airborne biological particles trigger allergy. Pollen and microscopic fungal spores are the most common aeroallergens present in outdoor air.

Outdoor allergens

Outdoor allergens

Some of the most common allergy-causing particles outdoors are pollen and fungal spores. These can number several hundred thousand or more in 1 cubic metre of air. Air moving over different land surfaces transports pollen and spores collected from one area to another. Airborne spores of various microscopic fungi species are spread in atmosphere. Allergic diseases can be triggered by spores belonging to more than 100 different microscopic fungi genera.

Indoor allergens

Indoor allergens

Allergens are not only present in outdoor air. Sensitive people can also be exposed to indoor allergens. There are all the different types of allergens found in the air, mainly from cats, dogs, mice, cockroaches and dust mites, as well as pollen and microscopic fungi spores. Indoor allergens, like outdoor allergens, are quite difficult to control.
